The Book Hound began in our house in 1993 as a small used and out-of-print book business. We also sold books at home school book fairs. A few years later we began selling some of our better books on www.abebooks.com, where we still sell books today. We opened a shop on Locust Avenue in Amsterdam, NY in November of 1999. On August 12, 2003, we launched www.thebookhound.net. At the end of August, we moved our business from Locust Avenue to a 1700s farmhouse at outside of Amsterdam. We have shifted our focus to internet sales, while we renovate this house.
Mission Statement
The goal of The Book Hound is to provide quality books at affordable prices. We do not sell books that overemphasize sex and violence. We focus on books that have withstood the test of time, rather than books of the month.
Our Specialties
While we try to have books in all categories, our strong areas are Religion, American History, New York State History, Children's Books and General Non-Fiction.
